Reflect the light of jesus christ

Jesus defined the mission of every Christian church when He told His Disciples, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20). We are to make disciples of all nations. No one is excluded. In order to make disciples, Jesus instructs us to baptize in the name of our Triune God and teach what He has commanded, which has been written down and collected for us in the Bible.


The Gospel of John also says this about Jesus: "In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it" (John 1:4-5). Jesus is the Light of the world. He brings us life. There is no life outside of Jesus. 


Therefore, our mission is to reflect the light of Jesus Christ by sharing the Good News of salvation with all people and by nourishing the faithful through His Word and Sacraments. 

grace abounds

"For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace" 

(John 1:16).


St. John's is a place where grace abounds. Our world is filled with endless to-do lists and performance-based acceptance. Not with God. God loves you and accepts you unconditionally because of His Son’s sacrifice on the cross for you. The Good News we share is that God has saved us from sin, death, and the devil through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. We truly have received grace upon grace. Come as you are and hear more about the grace that God has for you because of Jesus.

A Welcoming community

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near" (Hebrews 10:23-25).


The Scriptures remind us that we need each other for encouragement in the hope of our confession of faith. God has created us to be in community with each other. St. John's seeks to be a welcoming community of Christians that truly cares for all people, regardless of who they are. We know ourselves to be undeserving sinners who have been extended grace and mercy from our loving God through Christ Jesus. St. John's is not a "museum" of righteous people, it's a place for sinners who know the only One who is righteous: Jesus.
