Charlie became a deacon in April of 2013, but has been involved in the activities of the church for more than 40 years. His impetus for becoming a commissioned deacon was to better prepare himself to aid the church in teaching the Gospel and to become more proficient in the church's works of service and mercy. Charlie has two grown children, a son and a daughter, and has been married 45 years to his wife, Christine, the Director of a Lutheran nursery school.
